In 1948, Neil Sinclair started Sinclair Electric in Tara. As hydro moved down the roads of Bruce County, Neil switched to supplying his customers with refrigerators, stoves and televisions. Neil, who was also a skilled card player, was given the nickname "Square Deal Neil" by a radio station in Owen Sound. The slogan for his expanding business,

Sinclair TV & Appliances, became "For a square deal, see Neil." In 1974 Neil's son lan Sinclair joined the business and two years later the family opened their current location in Southampton under the name Square Deal Neil's TV & Appliances.


in 1988, lan and his wife Edith purchased the business from Neil, and their children Michael and Laura joined the family business. They've built a successful business by taking care of their customers. They service what they sell -only carrying brands that their service department can repair. They also offer warranty service on anything purchased at the store.


Square Deal Neil's showcases trusted appliances in their showroom from KitchenAid, Maytag, Whirlpool, Jenn-Air, Amana and Danby, as well as LG televisions, Gladiator Garageworks and a full line of Panasonic microwaves. Their new Distribution Centre houses a large inventory, which has been beneficial throughout the pandemic.
